Don't pack water or liquids - 3oz or less in clear plastic container (like a ziploc bag).
TSA Security Screening: When you get to the airport, you will have to go through security screening with TSA. TSA lines can sometimes be quite long so plan on arriving to the airport 1 1/2 to 2 hours before your flight. You will need to show them your driver's license and boarding pass.
Most airlines have inflight entertainment (movies & TV shows) via their smartphone app. Check which airline you are flying and install their app.
Pack your medication in a carry-on bag. Do NOT check the bag that has your medication. If the airline loses that bag, you could be stuck for a day or more without your medicine.
Check the upcoming weather at your destination and pack appropriate apparel (jacket, gloves, hat).
Most airlines do not serve meals to economy passengers on domestic flights. They will likely only serve a drink and a small snack bag of nuts, pretzels, etc. If your flight time interferes with a mealtime, you may want to bring an additional snack or plan on eating before boarding the plane.
Airports have many restaurant options, however, be aware that food costs are significantly higher there.
During your training week, breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner will be provided at the hotel.
Install travel apps like Uber or Lyft on your smartphone. You may need one of those services to arrange for a car to transport you at some point during your stay. New to Uber? You'll be surprised at how simple and easy it is. Check out this article: Tips for how to use Uber for the first time.
TIPPING: (Tips can be reimbursed by the company. Enter tips on your expense report using Concur.)
Restaurant Servers: 15% to 25% of the total bill is generally expected for good service.
Shuttle/Uber drivers: Uber suggests $1, $2, or $5 to make things simple.
Hotel Housekeeping: Some people tip the hotel housekeeping personnel. $2 to $5 per day is the norm. If no service is performed during your stay, then a $5 tip on the day you check out is much appreciated.
When in doubt, ask for advice! Your manager or one of the event organizers will be happy to assist you.
